Miranda Atkinson

Miranda Atkinson, executive director/wearer of many hats, is no stranger to #instaballet. She joined our board in 2015, becoming board vice president shortly after, and has supported heART in Motion fundraisers, managed the Emerging Choreographer Program, and volunteered at many #instaballets. She's even served as an #instaballet facilitator and dancer. In 2022, she was hired as #instaballet's program administrator and first employee, catalyzing and securing funding for #instaballet's growing staff and expanding programs. A dancer herself, Miranda grew up in the midwest, training with Halcyone Perlman at Mid-Missouri Dance Theatre. She has taught dance for 20 years in Iowa, Missouri, and in Oregon at Eugene Ballet Academy. Miranda has also led a successful career as an administrator in higher education, launching and leading multiple programs designed to support equity and student success. Miranda has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Iowa State University and a Masters in Education in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri. She values creativity, strategy, inclusivity, and relationships in her work. In her free time, Miranda launches paper airplanes from the staircase in her house with her two children, chases chickens in the backyard with her partner and husband, and dances until she drops with her dance community.
